Raising Children While Working

It was an honor for Women in Chemicals to have had the opportunity to hear from three terrific women in our community about their journeys in raising children while working. We started our panel discussion with hearing from each of our panelist about her family, her career, and the overlap of the two when it was time to start a family.

One of the key themes during the panel discussion was the need for flexibility and support during the family years. Not only is it crucial to have an employer that accommodates the flexibility needed as a working mother, but it is also just as important to have a village of support to help love, care, and assist with your children. It was the resounding majority opinion that having a career while also having a family is a balancing act, one that requires self-care, ambition, and patience in order to deal with the challenges that working mothers face.

Our panelist were given the opportunity to provide advice to someone who wants to start a career and a family at the same time. Interested to hear what they said? Check out the recording below.
