Women In Chemicals
Impact Report 2025

Dear Women in Chemicals Community,

The momentum behind women in the chemical industry is no longer aspirational, it is measurable, powerful, and accelerating.

According to McKinsey’s 2025 Women in the Workplace report, companies that prioritize gender diversity are 15% more likely to outperform their peers, with top organizations achieving up to 35% higher profitability. With difficult market conditions, companies must look everywhere for performance levers. It has never been a more important time for companies to empower their female talent and to see the outcomes enabled when women get opportunities to lead at all levels.

This 2025 Impact Report reflects a year defined by growth, influence, and opportunity for Women in Chemicals and our membership. It showcases significant outcomes driven by our programs and underscores the critical role that our organization plays in building a strong, connected network that empowers women across the chemical industry, and thus holistically uplifts the industry as a whole

In 2025, Women in Chemicals harnessed the continued passion of our stakeholders to drive meaningful impact. We reached record-breaking engagement at in-person events, expanded our global footprint, and continued driving systemic change in the chemical industry.

Thousands of professionals connected through our programs and educational initiatives, reinforcing the industry’s demand for a focused, trusted community dedicated to advancing women and developing future-ready talent.

As we look ahead to our fifth anniversary on February 1, 2026, we celebrate how far this community has come, from a bold idea to a global movement, while recognizing that lasting progress toward gender parity requires continued engagement, investment, and accountability.

We invite you to stay engaged, deepen your involvement, and join Women in Chemicals as we build the future of our industry.

Yours in Service,
Women in Chemicals

Making Strides, Room for Change

In its 2025 reports, McKinsey shared two sobering statistics:

  • We are still 50 years away from gender parity in the workplace, and

  • Corporate America risks rolling back progress for women and eroding the leadership pipeline.

2026 is a year of corporate recommitment. The advancement of women is critical to the long-term success and sustainability of the chemical industry. Advancing women strengthens the talent pipeline, drives stronger top and bottom line performance, and ensures the chemical industry remains competitive, innovative, and resilient over the long term. By creating workplaces that support flexible work arrangements, formal sponsorship, and targeted career development, companies can accelerate progress.

While leadership data shows a modest increase in women being hired or promoted into elevated roles, overall female representation in leadership remains below 25%.

Women Promoted or Hired into Leadership Roles

56%

In the last 12 months, 56% of members reported a woman was either promoted or hired on their team in a leadership role.

Average Representation of Female Leaders

<25%

Despite the increase in promotions, 59% of members shared that less than 25% of leadership roles in their companies are held by women.

Strategic Focus for 2026

Our core mission is to build a community for women to feel empowered and thrive in the chemical industry. In the upcoming year, we’re focused on continuing to meet the needs of our members as they advance in their careers by:

Doubling Down on Expanding Our Global Outreach:

The quarterly book club will be accessible across three different time zones, and Mentorship Cohort 2026 participants represent 26 countries across North America, Latin America, Europe, Africa, Asia-Pacific, and the Middle East.

Strengthening and Enhancing Partnerships:
Increased interest in bringing Women in Chemicals programming directly into organizations through conferences, ERGs, and regional events has expanded our ability to collaborate with corporate partners. These partnerships enable broader access to education, mentorship, and leadership development while aligning employer priorities with workforce advancement.

Enabling Talent Pipeline Growth:
Recognize a deserving woman with the first annual scholarship award to support education and the continued growth of a diverse talent pipeline. We will increase the frequency of career-focused outreach at universities and create a centralized platform to encourage career exploration and visibility to attract talent to the chemical industry.

Investing in Diversity & Leadership

On behalf of Brenntag, I am delighted that the Company is elevating its partnership with WIC to become Title Corporate Sponsor. In addition to the ongoing sponsorship of joint participation at major industry events, we expect to contribute to the ongoing delivery of high-quality virtual and in-person programming for WIC members internationally.

In particular, we plan to use the role of Title Corporate Sponsor to extend membership reach in each region by building enhanced and self-sustaining networks which shall be led by local senior leaders. We further plan to cultivate new members from a wider region of functional areas than has tended to be the case in Brenntag to-date.

We shall also proactively target new joiners to become WIC members so they can enter and build new networks as early as possible in their careers. To enhance content momentum and total impact, WIC and Brenntag also discuss whether and how to link to other causes and networks with similar purpose as WIC.

Brenntag’s new role as WIC’s Title Corporate Sponsor of is another important milestone in each party’s ambition to strengthen development pathways for women in the chemical industry. We are looking forward to making a real difference.
