Women in Chemicals Recognized with RELX SDG Partner Award
Women in Chemicals has been recognized as a recipient of the 2025 RELX SDG Partner Award, an honor celebrating organizations that are making meaningful contributions toward advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The organization was nominated by ICIS, a LexisNexis Risk Solutions business and announced as a winner during RELX's annual SDG Inspiration Day, a global event that brought together more than 1,000 participants and 40 speakers from around the world to discuss solutions to some of society's most pressing challenges.
The award recognizes Women in Chemicals' efforts to create greater opportunity, visibility, and advancement for women across the chemical industry.
"While the chemical industry is responsible for many of the products and innovations that shape modern life, women remain significantly underrepresented throughout the sector, particularly in leadership positions," said Amelia Greene, Chairwoman of Women in Chemicals while accepting the award. "This recognition validates the importance of building a more inclusive industry and ensuring that talented women have the opportunity to enter, thrive, and lead."
Founded in 2021, Women in Chemicals is a volunteer-led nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering women across the chemical value chain. Through mentorship, scholarships, leadership development, networking, education, and industry outreach, the organization works to strengthen the talent pipeline, improve retention, and support the advancement of women into leadership roles. Its initiatives are designed to ensure that women can see a future for themselves in the industry and have access to the support, networks, and opportunities needed to succeed.
The recognition comes at a critical time for the industry. Women currently represent approximately 22% of the global chemical workforce, with representation declining further at senior levels. Women in Chemicals believes that addressing this imbalance is not only an equity issue but also a business imperative, helping organizations unlock broader perspectives, stronger decision-making, and greater innovation.
"We are incredibly grateful to ICIS for the nomination, to RELX for this recognition, and to the volunteers, mentors, members, partners, and allies who make our work possible," Greene said. "This award belongs to the entire Women in Chemicals community. Together, we are building a stronger, more inclusive future for our industry."
