Women in Chemicals (WIC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to empowering and advancing women in the chemical industry worldwide. Our mission is to provide growth opportunities, a support-centric community, and a platform for visibility, leadership development, and advocacy. Spanning across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, WIC is shaping a new standard of inclusivity and empowerment. We are currently recruiting for our Advisory and Ally Boards. Become an advisory board member and take a leadership role to assist in driving Women in Chemicals forward.

Position Overview:
The Advisory and Ally Advisory Board Members are senior executives who serve as strategic advisors and advocates, helping to shape the future direction of Women in Chemicals. These members provide high-level guidance, support, and thought leadership to ensure WIC continues to grow in influence and effectiveness. This is an unpaid role requiring up to 5 hours of commitment monthly, which includes attending quarterly meetings, participating in major WIC initiatives, and meeting annual sponsorship requirements.

Eligibility:

  • Senior executives with chemical industry experience

  • Familiarity with Women in Chemicals Initiatives

Process

  • Interested applicants must submit an application to be considered for the role

  • Applications are due by November 21 by 11:59pm

  • Interviews will be held by December 5.

  • Applicants will be notified by December 8.

Key Commitments:

  • Participation at 4 virtual meetings

  • Attendance at the 2026 Women in Chemicals Conference (September 14-16, 2026)

  • Fundraising of $1500

Openings & Term Length
Women in Chemicals has up to 6 seats opening on our boards - 2 on the advisory board and 4 on the ally advisory board. The advisory board is comprised of women and the ally advisory board is comprised of male allies.

  • Advisory Board: 3 Years (2026-2028)

  • Ally Board Group 1: 3 Years (2026-2028)

  • Ally Board Group 2: 2 Years (2026-2027)

  • Ally Board Group 3: 1 Year (2026)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Direction and Oversight: Work closely with the WIC Leadership Team, offering strategic direction on organizational goals, identifying potential growth opportunities, and evaluating progress on WIC’s long-term objectives.

  • Program and Initiative Development: Collaborate in the creation and refinement of WIC’s programming, ensuring it aligns with evolving industry needs, member interests, and WIC’s mission.

  • Actively participate in WIC’s program reviews, providing insights based on industry trends, diversity, and inclusion best practices.

  • Fundraising and Sponsorship: Contribute to WIC’s financial sustainability by securing a minimum of two sponsorships per year to support programs, events, or community initiatives.

  • Engage with industry contacts to build financial and resource support for WIC initiatives, fostering a network of ongoing contributors and industry partners.

  • Thought Leadership and Industry Presence: Serve as an ambassador for WIC, sharing expertise and elevating WIC’s mission in industry forums, conferences, and within your professional networks.

  • Host or secure speakers for at least one WIC event per year, bringing fresh perspectives and expertise to enhance WIC’s offerings.

  • Community Building and Member Engagement: Actively support WIC’s mission through mentorship, event participation, or collaboration on initiatives that deepen engagement within the WIC community.

  • Attend and volunteer at key WIC events, including the 2025 Women in Chemicals Conference, to connect directly with members and contribute to the event’s success.

Meeting and Attendance Requirements:

  • Participate in quarterly board meetings, including joint sessions with the Ally Advisory Board twice a year. One of these joint meetings will be in person.

  • Commitment to full attendance is essential, with no more than one absence allowed per year.

Qualifications:

  • Senior-Level Experience in the Chemical Industry: Proven track record in executive or senior leadership, with a deep understanding of the chemical sector’s unique challenges and opportunities, especially for women.

  • Passion for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Demonstrated commitment to supporting diverse communities, mentoring emerging leaders, and promoting inclusive work environments.

  • Strategic Insight and Vision: Ability to assess WIC’s strategic needs, providing constructive feedback and fresh ideas to help WIC continue its impactful work.

  • Fundraising and Network Influence: Strong network within the industry and experience in securing sponsorships or funding for non-profit or community initiatives.

  • Engagement and Availability: Willingness to dedicate time and actively contribute to meetings, events, and responsibilities throughout the term.
